With a fast-paced and hectic five months, the senior thesis show is completed and the stress-filled journey has come to an end (sigh).
I could not be happier with the outcome of my project, having chosen an incredibly eye-opening, yet difficult topic. Addressing the topic of homelessness was something I felt drawn to right from the beginning. I love to help people, and I knew it would be good for me to get out of my comfort zone and put myself into the lives of the homeless directly.
People tend to look away from the homeless, and I know I am guilty of doing so. With that being said, I wanted my photographs to portray a brighter side and that these people are just like us. The more opportunities to talk to each individual, the more I came to the realization that we have more similarities than non similarities, which is a beautiful thing. If only more people could see them in the way that I had the pleasure in doing so, I am confident that the world would be a much better place.
